1: Mowing/Plowing.
With work hours extending and commuting times getting longer, more and more people neither have the time or the energy for mowing their lawn during the warm months, or plowing the snow in the winter. Both of these side jobs offers the opportunity to either set a regular schedule of clients for ongoing work, or simply looking for jobs as the time and need allows. For a small equipment investment, and virtually no experience you can be up and running in days.

2: Driveway Sealing.
Although some heavier equipment is necessary (a tow vehicle and a large scale sprayer), the initial investment for a driveway sealing business runs less than $10,000 if buying used equipment. Training is minimal, although working months may range from a mere 3 to as many as 10 months a year, depending on the area in which you live. 3: Freelance Writing.
Granted, you have to have some writing skills to be able to market writing services, but most businessmen these days are more than qualified to write business memos, letters, proposals, and even articles in their areas of expertise for other businesses and websites. With an increase in Internet opportunities, freelance writing is becoming a major source of extra income for many businesspeople with a way with words and a little know-how.

Again, an advanced degree is necessary here, but anyone with an accounting background can easily make a few bucks on the side doing taxes and keeping business books straight. Non-profit organizations too are always looking for inexpensive, yet knowledgeable people with a financial background to handle their bill paying on a regular basis.

5: Odd Jobs.
Whether it’s painting, wallpapering or just doing basic odd jobs around the house, people are always looking for someone who’s knowledgeable in home repair, as well as available to get those small repairs and remodeling jobs done quickly and inexpensively. Again, an excellent opportunity for a part time worker who may be thinking of making it a fulltime endeavor in the future odd-jobs are the new business opportunity for anyone with a little know-how and the willingness to work hard and get the job done right.
